The new Electricity Corporations (South West Interconnected System Prescribed Customers) Order 2023 has been made by the Minister for Energy and took legal effect with publication in the Government Gazette on 9 May 2023.

The Order is to preserve the current State Government policy position on electricity retail contestability in the SWIS, given the increasing prevalence of bidirectional electricity services. This includes that residential electricity customers within the SWIS are restricted to Synergy as their electricity retailer.
