The Clean Energy Skills National Centre of Excellence (CESNCE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with global fertilisers and industrial chemicals manufacturer Yara Pilbara, focusing on workforce planning and training development to support Western Australia’s clean energy transition and diversify the State’s economy.
Through the MOU, CESNCE and Yara Pilbara will work together to identify current and emerging skills needs across clean energy industries, with a strong focus on opportunities in the Pilbara that can be leveraged across the State. The partnership will prioritise co‑designing industry‑led training pathways and workforce initiatives that align with industry demand.
A key focus of the collaboration is increasing workforce participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and women, who remain underrepresented in the clean energy sector. CESNCE and Yara Pilbara will work closely with TAFE, universities, local communities, and Traditional Owners to develop inclusive and culturally informed training opportunities.
The partnership will also support the development of the VET lecturer workforce, strengthening capability to deliver training for emerging industries, including renewable hydrogen and the manufacture of fertilisers and industrial chemicals. This will enable the TAFE network, locally and nationally, to equip workers with the skills needed for these growing sectors.
