The Western Australian (WA) Government has released an updated, industry-focused Collie investment prospectus, designed to attract new investment and accelerate economic diversification in the region.

The State Government is seeking projects across green manufacturing, minerals processing, industries requiring renewable energy and clean energy industries to accelerate Collie’s transition.

Investing in Collie: Activating Industry, Jobs and Local Opportunities highlights Collie’s major competitive advantages as a prime destination for industrial investment. This includes:

  • Collie’s highly skilled workforce with capabilities developed across the mining and energy sectors;

  • The town’s location at the centre of WA’s South West Interconnected System providing access to connected electrical infrastructure at a range of capacities;

  • Collie’s wide range of Government-supported industrial land options, with the WA Government actively progressing common-user infrastructure and utilities to support heavy, job-creating industries; and

  • Collie’s global connectivity, with the town located just 60km from the deepwater Port of Bunbury and access to established road and rail networks.

Developed across government and in consultation with industry and the Collie Just Transition Working Group, the new document builds on the previous Collie prospectus, Welcome to Collie: Your Investment Destination, and reflects the significant progress made since the State Government announced a Just Transition for Collie in 2019.

The State Government has supported the recent establishment of a wide range of new industries securing Collie’s future as an industrial hub, and is now making significant investments in industrial land and enabling infrastructure to attract additional job-creating industries and unlock opportunities for proponents ready to establish and grow in the region.

Key initiatives include:

  • The $230 million Collie Industrial Transition Fund (CITF) to activate industrial land and provide grants to companies establishing industry projects in Collie.

  • As part of the CITF, $134 million has been committed to activating the Coolangatta Industrial Estate through common-user power, water and transport infrastructure.
