The State Government has launched Western Australia: Advancing the Future of Manufacturing prospectus, demonstrating the government’s commitment to a future made in Western Australia.
The document highlights the State Government’s vision for WA industries to be transformed into a highly integrated, collaborative and export-focused sector, supported by strong local manufacturing capability and resilient supply chains.
The document will drive awareness of WA’s strategic comparative advantages, policy settings, enabling activities as well as the key sector-specific strategic priorities of the WA Government, raising the State's advanced manufacturing profile globally.
Advanced manufacturing is a capability which supports several of WA’s key priority sectors, including
- energy
- mining
- primary industries
- health and medical life sciences
- and defence
The prospectus aims to bring in new investment, support existing growth, encourage new market entrants and help entice a diverse talent pool of skilled workers with specific technical advanced manufacturing skills, knowledge and capabilities.
The launch of Western Australia: Advancing the Future of Manufacturing coincided with the inaugural meeting of the Advanced Manufacturing Council, which met on 28 May.
The Council is a key strategic advisory group, chaired by Hon Stephen Dawson, that will support the development of WA’s advanced manufacturing capability, capacity and competitiveness. Their focus is industry development, economic diversification, jobs creation, and skills and training to enhance sovereign advanced manufacturing in the State.
