Team members from the Infrastructure, Planning and Economic Development (IPED) and Hydrogen and New Energies divisions were on Ngarluma Country in Karratha, for the 2023 Pilbara Summit.

The annual event explores economic growth, investment opportunities and regional development across the Pilbara, bringing together government, industry and key stakeholders from the region.

Held from 10-11 October at the Red Earth Arts Precinct, the Summit was sold out with more than 500 people in attendance.

This year’s theme was Major Projects & Investment in a Diverse & Dynamic Region and aims to drive activity to the Pilbara whilst also informing the local community of what is happening in the region.

Discussions centred on industrial decarbonisation, the clean energy transition, the changing technological landscape and the necessity for increased and culturally safe engagement with First Nations and Traditional Owners.

The event was supported by JTSI who was also on the ground with an exhibition booth. It was a great opportunity for team members to meet with local industry and provide information on how the WA Government is supporting local businesses in the region.

The Minister for Regional Development, Don Punch and Federal Minister for Resources and Northern Australia, Madeleine King delivered addresses over the two days.
