Persons of Interest has earned a dedicated audience, downloaded in 82 countries. Season Two brings more action-packed, heart-pounding, adrenaline-charged stories from serving WA police officers.
The podcast gives listeners an insight into the reality of policing in Western Australia like never before.
From axe-wielding offenders to bathroom brawls, dismantling an international crime syndicate and a TRG takedown on the freeway – listeners will hear how each case unfolds and get an insight into what policing is really like.
The first episode of the series, Axe Man, kicks off with a blood-curdling scream of sheer terror…a scream that has stayed with Senior Sergeant Scott Starkie ever since he first heard it captured on CCTV. The story features an intruder with an axe, a mysterious cloaked woman and a man driving a Holden Commodore, demonstrating how determination and exceptional detective work unravelled a web of lies to catch the offender.
Well-respected and accomplished journalist Sandra Di Girolamo returns as host of the series, which gives listeners access to police operational information never heard before.
“Think true crime, but told from the cops’ point of view. It’s an incredible insight into WA Police you won’t get anywhere else” she said.
WA Police Force Director Media and Corporate Communications, Joey Catanzaro, said while Persons of Interest was entertaining, it was produced to serve a practical purpose.
“The Western Australian Police Force is expanding; last year recording the highest number of new police officers joining the front line in a single year in the agency’s 171-year history.
“Persons of Interest is a fascinating and fun way to give people considering a career with the WA Police Force a true and accurate gauge of what policing is really like.
“While many of the stories featured are action-packed and exciting, they are both heart-stopping and heart-wrenching, showing that policing, at its core, is about people.
“We want even more people to join forces with us, so if you are considering joining the WA Police Force this podcast is a must-listen.”
Season 2 of Persons of Interest follows the successful first season, which has been downloaded more than 60,000 times across 82 countries.
