A pre-feasibility study is exploring local business opportunities in the wind energy sector.

The study is part of the Wind Turbine Manufacturing Initiative, under the Western Australian Government's
WA Recovery Plan.

It is the first time a state government has explored the local supply chain for wind farms.

The study – being led by the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI) – is investigating producing and servicing wind turbine components in Western Australia. It is also examining market trends and the potential to generate investment.

Of the 15 wind farms in WA, 8 are owned by the WA Government, and local steel manufacturers are excited about the prospect of working with us to deliver jobs and opportunities for WA businesses.
