Quarterly Financial Results Report – March 2025

News story
The March 2025 Quarterly Financial Results Report provides financial results for the Western Australian public sector for the nine months to 31 March 2025.
Last updated:

The general government sector recorded an operating surplus of $2.8 billion for the nine months to 31 March 2025. While general government revenue was higher than the same period last year, this was more than offset by higher expenses, due largely to increased workforce numbers in the health and education sectors, the settlement of industrial agreements, electricity bill credits and public transport subsidies, and patient support services.

A record $9.7 billion was spent on infrastructure during the nine months to March 2025, up $1.9 billion or 24% on the same period last year. Total public sector net debt stood at $30.8 billion at 31 March 2025.

Care should be exercised in extrapolating the likely outcome for the 2024-25 year based on the results to date. Final results will be provided in the 2024-25 Annual Report on State Finances (due to be released by 28 September 2025).
