Officers from Great Southern Traffic have charged an 18-year-old man in relation to a reckless driving incident that occurred in Albany on Saturday, 25 July 2026.
About 9.50pm, it will be alleged the man, while driving a Holden Colorado utility, committed an act of reckless driving by doing burnouts within the Albany CBD.
At the time of the incident, several pedestrians and other vehicles were present in the area.
Following extensive intelligence gathering and investigative enquiries, officers located the man and seized the vehicle. The vehicle was impounded, and the man was issued with a surrender notice.
The 18-year-old man has been charged with one count of ‘Reckless driving’. He is due to appear before the Albany Magistrates Court next month.
District Superintendent Jon Munday said the matter was an excellent example of intelligence-led policing and the strong collaboration that exists between officers across the Great Southern District.
"This outcome demonstrates how our intelligence teams utilise technology to support investigators, identify offenders and hold them accountable for their actions with the goal of keeping our community safe.
"We will not tolerate dangerous driving on our roads. Reckless behaviour behind the wheel places the lives of drivers, passengers and other road users at risk.”
