At the May 2022 SEMC meeting, members approved a review of DEMCs and LEMCs to evaluate their effectiveness in achieving the strategic objectives of the SEMC.

Independent consultants have completed consultations at a state, district and local level. Discussion focused on the functions, operations, membership, and effectiveness of LEMCs, interactions with DEMCs and state EM arrangements.
Findings from the Local Emergency Management Committee (LEMC) and District Emergency Management Committee (DEMC) Issues Paper, developed by WALGA and based on input received via the Local Emergency Management Arrangements (LEMA) Review, will also inform recommendations.
Findings from the Review into District and Local Emergency Management Committees will be presented to SEMC in December 2023.
