Cash out options for Western Australian bookmakers

The Rules of Wagering 2005 have been amended to let Western Australian bookmakers offer cash-out options on certain wagers.

This change helps Western Australian bookmakers remain competitive in the national market by expanding fixed-odds wagering on racing events.

Bookmakers can offer a cash-out option if they choose to, subject to the steps below.

Requirements for bookmakers

If a Western Australian bookmaker decides to offer a cash-out option for permitted wagers, the bookmaker must:

  • ensure system upgrades needed to support the option are independently certified,
  • submit certification evidence and proposed terms and conditions to the Gaming and Wagering Commission for approval, and
  •  receive approval before offering a cash‑out option.

If you have any questions about the cash-out option for WA bookmakers, please contact the Racing, Gaming and Liquor Policy and Legislation team at rglpolicy@lgirs.wa.gov.au.
