There is a quick and easy link via the ‘Season 2025 – agriculture tab’ from the new homepage dpird.wa.gov.au.
The page harnesses DPIRD’s vast knowledge and experience into one place – spanning livestock, animal welfare, crops, soil, water and climate outlook.
Scroll down to see each section’s valuable, timely, relevant information to help landholders make informed decisions.
The Climate Outlook tab has an overview of the Bureau of Meteorology’s latest information, as well as a link to its seasonal outlook and maps.
DPIRD’s monthly Seasonal Climate Outlook newsletter is also available, which includes maps on rainfall deciles, rainfall, soil water and seasonal breaks for the South West Land Division of WA.
Other climate resources include links to DPIRD’s 191 weather stations for real time weather data, including rainfall, dew point and wind speed, direction and gusts.
DPIRD Farming Systems Innovation Director David Ferris said the new webpage had improved functionality to help landholders access high quality information and resources when they need it.
“While the dry start to the season has not been as widespread as 2024, it has been challenging for many landholders – particularly in the Mid West where rainfall has been below average,” Dr Ferris said.
“The new Season 2025 webpage is being updated as the season progresses, with trusted information, data, advice and tools to assist farming businesses.
“We encourage landholders to work alongside their agronomists and consultants as they adapt to the seasonal conditions and take early action.”
Grain growers will find a link to the 2025 WA Crop Sowing Guide from the Season 2025 webpage to help them pivot to other crop options, as the window for canola sowing closes.
There is also a link to the weekly PestFacts WA newsletter for information to manage your crop pests and diseases throughout the season.
Livestock producers managing low water supplies can tap into information to help manage and budget stock water, as well as articles and online tools for dry season decision making on pasture management, feed budgeting, supplementary and confinement feeding.
The Season 2025 landing page also includes the WA Rural Support Directory and links to financial and wellbeing support.
