News story
Host a UWA student intern this Semester 2 through the McCusker Centre and gain fresh ideas and meaningful project support for your team.

Public sector agencies can now apply to host a motivated UWA student through the McCusker Centre for Citizenship internship program for a 100 hour intensive internship from 20 July to 9 October 2026.

Internships provide students valuable real world work experience and connect agencies with the next generation of university qualified talent.

UWA Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Public Health) student Sarah Solich, who interned with South Metropolitan Health Service at Fremantle Hospital, completed valuable project work to support new staff onboarding.

“My work involved improving the recruitment and onboarding experience for international and domestic applicants which included developing practical resources to support new staff,” says Sarah.

“It was very rewarding to see my work come to life and know that it will be useful to the people I had built relationships with.”.

“Understanding how to take good care of staff and having the tools to support them is something I will carry throughout my career.”

If your team could benefit from a similarly motivated intern during Semester 2, send your EOIs by 10 July to internships@mccuskercentre.uwa.edu.au or telephone 6488 7873 for more information.
