The State Government showcased vocational education and training (VET) pathways into some of Western Australia's most in-demand careers at the SkillsWest Careers and Employment Expo, held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 23 to 25 July 2026.
Over three days, more than 16,000 students, jobseekers and career changers explored career pathways across key industries and connected with more than 160 employers, training providers and industry organisations at WA's largest careers and employment expo. Attendees also had the opportunity to see WA's Skillaroos in action as they prepared for the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, alongside hands-on Try'aSkill activities and WorldSkills regional competitions.
The State Government's TAFE – You can make it here exhibit featured an interactive ‘Swipe to your future’ quiz matching visitors with potential study and career pathways. Displays in the popular TAFE hubs provided interactive insights into high-demand industries, including advanced manufacturing, building and construction, clean energy, and community care.
Staff from Jobs and Skills Centres, North Metropolitan TAFE and South Metropolitan TAFE provided personalised advice on apprenticeships, traineeships and training pathways to help attendees take the next step towards a rewarding career.
The expo comes as demand for skilled workers remains strong across Western Australia, with record enrolments in publicly funded vocational education and training helping to build the skilled workforce needed to support the State’s growth and development.
