Police have charged two men with several offences after an evade police incident that occurred on Sunday 8 June 2025.

About 2.30am, two males – aged 31-years-old and 33-years-old – approached a ride-share vehicle parked on Newcastle Street in Perth.

It will be alleged the 31-year-old man pulled the driver from the car and assaulted him, before stealing the vehicle and leaving the area with his accomplice.

A short time later, police sighted the allegedly stolen vehicle on Pickering Brook Road, and activated emergency lights and sirens.

It will be further alleged the 31-year-old driver failed to stop and instead accelerated away from police, driving at excessive speed along Pickering Brook Road, before crashing into an embankment.

The offenders were arrested after a chase on foot in nearby bushland.

A 31-year-old man from Caversham has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Robbery
  • Steal Motor Vehicle
  • No Authority to Drive – Suspended (other than fines suspension)
  • Reckless Driving to Escape Pursuit by Police
  • Driver of a Vehicle Failed to Comply with a Direction to Stop (circumstance of aggravation)

A 33-year-old man from Stirling has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Robbery
  • Steal Motor Vehicle
  • Possess a Prohibited Drug (cannabis)
Both men are due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Monday 9 June 2025.
