Support payments available from July for Western Australians via the ServiceWA app

From July 2026, two new payments will be available via the ServiceWA app to support Western Australian households with cost-of-living pressures. The Fuel Support Payment and the WA Student Assistance Payment are one-off payments to help ease financial pressures. 

Fuel Support Payment 

The Fuel Support Payment is a cost-of-living measure to help Western Australians with fuel costs.

What is the payment 

The one-off $100 payment will be provided to support fuel costs for people with a valid Western Australian driver’s licence, including learner’s permits, provisional and extraordinary driver’s licences from 1 July 2026.

How to claim

The fastest and most convenient way to receive the Fuel Support Payment is through the ServiceWA app. Claims can be made from 1 July 2026 through ServiceWA offers tab.

Once claims open on 1 July 2026 and you are logged in with your Digital ID, the payment will be made available to eligible users.  

Alternative claim options will also be available for people who are unable or do not wish to use the app.

When is the Fuel Support Payment available 

The payment will be available from 1 July 2026. For more information, visit the ServiceWA Offers page or keep an eye on the WA.gov.au website for the latest information. 

2026 WA Student Assistance Payment

The WA Student Assistance Payment is back for a third year, helping Western Australian families with school costs like books, uniforms, excursions and other everyday expenses. 

What is the payment

The payment is available to parents and carers of students from Kindergarten to year 12. The cost-of-living payments for each child include:  

  • $150 for Kindergarten and primary school students  
  • $250 for secondary school students 

How to claim 

The ServiceWA app will be the fastest, most secure and most convenient way to claim the WA Student Assistance Payment.  

Claims open 20 July 2026 and you will need to log into ServiceWA with your Digital ID.  

Alternative claim methods will be available via the Department of Education website, with paper forms to be made available where needed. 

Who is eligible for the payment

The 2026 WA Student Assistance Payment will be available to:  

  • All students with an active enrolment at a WA public school or non-government school.
  • International full fee-paying students if they are enrolled in a WA registered school.
  • Mature age students studying to achieve a Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE).  
  • Students in Pre-primary to Year 12 educated by a registered home educator  
  • Students in the care of people assessed and approved as family carers, significant other carers and community foster carers by the Department of Communities.
  • Student eligibility will be validated through their unique WA student number (WASN) found on school reports, previous NAPLAN results and may also be on school-issued secondary student SmartRider cards.  

For parents or carers of students who have started Kindergarten or Pre-primary this year and do not have anything with their WA student number, please contact their school who can provide you with this information. 

When is it available

The offer will be available to claim from 20 July 2026.

These support payments are in addition to the recent rebates and offers that have been available to claim via ServiceWA such as the Kids Access All Areas Voucher, WA Tree Recovery and Treebate programs. 

ServiceWA app

The ServiceWA app allows you to access WA government services, offers and information in one convenient location. A number of the most popular government services are already featured, with more on the way such as a Digital Driver Licence which was announced on 23 April 2026.  

To access these new payments mentioned above login to the ServiceWA app with your Digital ID, as this allows you to securely access and claim for these payments.  

Alternative claim methods will be offered, and more information will be available once the offers are live. 

To prepare for making a claim, download or update to the latest version of the ServiceWA app and sign in using your Digital ID.
