The Western Australian Government has delivered two major projects thanks to the Australian Government’s $50 million TAFE Technology Fund (TTF).
With $3.24 million funding from the Australian Government’s TTF and an additional $100,000 from the WA Government, North Metropolitan TAFE’s (NM TAFE) Midland campus has opened a new renewables training hub featuring a 25‑metre working at heights tower, two donated nacelles, two wind turbines and a monitoring room.
The facility will provide post-trades training to skilled tradespeople and elective training to apprentice electricians, so they can take up jobs on wind farm projects throughout the State. From early 2026, NM TAFE will deliver new Wind Power Skill Sets, giving around 350 students each year hands‑on experience with industry infrastructure.
The hub will play a key role in developing the State’s clean energy workforce and will be central to training initiatives delivered by the Clean Energy Skills National Centre of Excellence (CESNCE) — a $70.5 million joint initiative between the Australian and WA Governments under the National Skills Agreement.
At South Metropolitan TAFE's Bentley Pines Training Restaurant, a $3.05 million upgrade is benefiting around 415 cookery, patisserie and hospitality students. The refurbishment includes new equipment and appliances, a ‘live works’ viewing window between the kitchen and dining area, and improved air conditioning and exhaust systems.
These facilities will help students gain practical skills and experience in clean energy and hospitality, preparing them for good careers in priority industries.
