WAIOTY wrap up launch 2025

The Western Australia's Innovators of the Year 2025 program launch was hosted by Perth Morning Startup on Wednesday 7 May.

At the event, the WA innovation and entrepreneurial community attended in person and via livestream to observe the launch of the 2025 awards program, which was officially opened by the Hon Stephen Dawson MLC via a prerecorded video as he is attending the AUS MedTech conference over east to support the WA presence there.

The Minister for Science and Innovation thanked sponsors for their ongoing support and announced a new award category for young innovators open to all WA high school aged individual or teams from various educational streams.

Now in its 19th year, the 2025 program will recognise WA innovators across 7 award categories. Category winners will share in a prize pool of over $280,000, with the Emerging and Growth category winners to be awarded $60,000 each.

The launch included a welcome from the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Science and Innovation, Lisa O’Malley MLA, followed by an inspiring address from Professor Fiona Wood, WAIOTY Patron and one of WA’s most celebrated innovators.

Anna Dixon from BlueSalt Consulting presented on the “Key Success Factors for a Compelling WAIOTY Application”, offering practical advice to help applicants submissions stand out.

Past WAIOTY winner and finalist Deimos Laboratory and Pretect Devices provided insights of their WA’s Innovators of the Year program experiences.
