The Western Australian Government is committing $150 million toward the development of a locally manufactured Vanadium Battery Energy Storage System (VBESS) in Kalgoorlie.
The project will strengthen regional energy resilience, support long-duration storage solutions, and advance Western Australia’s vanadium and battery manufacturing industries.
An expression of interest will soon be made available for eligible businesses to submit their interest in the project.
The VBESS opportunity in Kalgoorlie will play a key role in diversifying the economy and demonstrating Western Australia’s innovation capabilities in long-duration battery energy storage.
Expressions of interest for the Kalgoorlie VBESS opportunity will open in the second half of 2025.
