WA Government delivers fast-tracked cost of living payment for nurses and midwives.
Last updated:

The WA Government’s one-off cost of living payment has been received by public sector nurses and midwives today, in accordance with the State Wages Policy.

Over 18,500 public sector nurses and midwives received the fast-tracked $3,000 cost of living payment – paid on a pro-rata basis for part-time and casual workers – to recognise the commitment of our public sector nurses and midwives who care for our community.

Public sector nurses and midwives will also receive wage increases ranging from 3 per cent to 4.5 per cent, backdated to 12 October 2022, as well as a 0.5 per cent per annum increase in superannuation for two years.

The WA Government is also working to deliver historic reforms on nurse-to-patient ratios across WA public hospitals and is committed to reaching an agreement with the nursing union on a new industrial agreement, negotiations for which remain ongoing.

The pay rise for nurses and midwives will form part of the final industrial agreement, in line with the State Wages Policy, which delivers a substantial wage increase for WA’s lowest paid workers and has already been accepted by three-quarters of public sector employees.

Further details on the offer to public sector nurses and midwives can be found below.

The WA Government would like to thank all our nurses and midwives for all they do.
