WA Public Sector Reform: Reshaped departments in place

A refreshed structure for government services is now in place with 10 reshaped departments established.

Around 3,000 operational staff have transferred to new departments as part of the Public Sector Reform 2025.

The changes are designed to better connect teams with related functions and establish centres of public sector expertise in areas such as construction, economic diversification, tourism and major events.

The reform brings a coordinated Team WA approach to strengthen collaboration across all levels of government.

The departments with reshaped operations from today:

  • Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure
  • Department of Housing and Works
  • Department of Energy and Economic Diversification
  • Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport
  • Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration
  • Department of the Premier and Cabinet
  • Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety
  • Department of Treasury and Finance
  • Department of Health
  • Department of Communities

Implementation of public sector reform continues including the move of corporate services staff and finalisation of office accommodation.
