Australian Training Awards 2025

Darwin may be 4,000 kms away but Western Australian finalists proved training excellence is always close to home at the 2025 Australian Training Awards.

After a successful 31st WA Training Awards this year, our finalists brought home two national titles and earned recognition across multiple categories at Australia’s premier training event.

Our winners are:

  • Vocational Student of the Year: Arabella Poole who, inspired by her occupational therapist, turned a long medical journey into triumph by following a vocational pathway in fitness. After completing a Certificate IV in Fitness at North Metropolitan TAFE, she has built a new career as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor and is now training to become a clinical pilates teacher. Her journey is a powerful example of resilience and how vocational education can transform lives.
  • Small Training Provider of the Year: Taylorweir Hairdresser and Barber Training, a WA institution shaping careers for nearly three decades. Supporting almost half of WA’s hairdressing and barbering apprentices, Taylorweir is recognised for its innovative, student‑focused approach and strong industry partnerships. Its nationally recognised programs blend technical skills with creativity, ensuring graduates are job‑ready and respected across the sector.

WA was also proudly represented by exceptional finalists across other categories, showcasing the strength, diversity, and impact of our training sector.

Congratulations to our winners and finalists who will now join peers from across the country as ambassadors and role models for the national vocational education and training (VET) sector.

Vocational training pathways set people up for success in skill-based careers, giving them hands-on experience in real industries, making them a first-choice tertiary education pathway.
