Safe to say, a look through its online reviews provided more entertainment than expected.
Sitting proudly at a 2.6-star average, based on 54 reviews, the Watch House continues to maintain its reputation as a destination most people would rather avoid, and we’re perfectly fine with that.
Still, some reviewers seemed genuinely surprised that their stay didn’t quite live up to the resort-style experience they were hoping for.
A recurring theme we noticed was how guests complained that their “holiday” didn’t include comfortable bedding, plush cushioning, or the freedom to check out when they felt like it.
One reviewer even noted disappointment at the “lack of privacy” during searches.
Others called their stay a “break from family and responsibilities,” only to complain when their getaway came with rules, structure, and zero spa-like ambience.
Given this wave of colourful feedback, we reached out to the Watch House’s Officer in Charge, Senior Sergeant Aleisha Forbes, for their take on this surprising “vacation hotspot.”
“While we can’t promise luxury, we can guarantee an unforgettable experience – though we strongly recommend guests don’t book a return stay,” S/Sgt Forbes said.
If the reviews have taught us anything, it’s that the Perth Watch House may not be the tropical retreat some visitors imagine, but it continues to run exactly as intended — secure, efficient, and certainly not somewhere you’d choose to spend the night.
