The Weather Matters video, produced by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) and the Bureau of Meteorology, is an initiative of the WA Government’s 2024 Dry Season Taskforce.

The 10 minute recording, to be updated regularly, features analysis by weather experts, DPIRD climate research scientist Meredith Guthrie and the Bureau's WA manager for hazard preparedness and response James Ashley.

The video, available via the Drought Response WA webpage, provides an opportunity for viewers to submit questions online for the experts to follow up.

DPIRD Farming Systems Innovation director David Ferris said the video would help landholders make informed management decisions.

“Recent rainfall has been very patchy across the agricultural region and many landholders are still waiting for a decent break to the season,” Dr Ferris said.

“The Weather Matters video will provide a timely analysis of the 10-day weather forecast and various models to assist landholders to manage the impact of the conditions on their business.”

The pair will also examine the Seasonal Climate Outlook for winter and what this means for the agricultural region.

The free Weather Matters video is available on the Drought Response WA website.
