Eucla Police had a woolly arrest on 1 October, after a sheep made a break for freedom from a cattle truck during a changeover at Border Village.
The little escapee spent the morning causing traffic shenanigans before police were called.
Sergeant Dale Grice said attempts to lure it into a station trailer with feed fell flat, so officers directed it away from the highway.
“Four sets of dingoes were circling the whole time, so it was a bit of a race to get him,” he said.
“Eventually, after four hours and perfecting our sheep calls, we finally got him close enough for S/C Riley Scott to grab him by the rear leg making a safe apprehension.”
The detainee, affectionately named Gladys, was transported to Mundrabilla Cattle Station, where she has since joined a new flock.
