DPIRD inspectors routinely monitor pen conditions to ensure that animals are not exposed to extreme heat that could lead to stress.

Farmers, livestock transporters, saleyard and feedlot operators must take reasonable steps to minimise the impact of extreme weather conditions on animals.

Failure to comply could result in financial penalties Under the Animal Welfare Act (2002).
