Western Australia’s Lachlan Basc has been awarded Best of Nation and won a silver medal in 3D Digital Game Art at the 48th WorldSkills International Competition in Shanghai.

Lachlan was one of four Western Australians representatives selected to join Australia’s Skillaroos team and compete at the prestigious international competition.

Joining Lachlan on the world stage were Jason Seiler, Daniel Peto and Larni Roberts, who showcased Western Australia’s skills excellence across a diverse range of disciplines spanning traditional trades, digital technologies, creative industries and service skills.

The competition brought together more than 1,400 competitors from around the world across 64 skill categories, providing participants with the opportunity to test their skills and knowledge against international benchmarks.

Among the standout performers was Lachlan, who won a silver medal in 3D Digital Game Art and was named Best of Nation. A graduate of North Metropolitan TAFE, Lachlan followed in the footsteps of his WorldSkills Expert, Ryan Goggin, who was also a student at the college.

Jason Seiler also delivered an outstanding performance, receiving a Medal of Excellence in Bricklaying.

Together, the Western Australian competitors highlight the skills, dedication and talent that continues to underpin Western Australia’s reputation for training excellence.
