This year's winner of the Margaret Medcalf Award for excellence in research using the Western Australian State archives is Dr Caroline Ingram.
A range of extraordinary stories from the State archives were explored through a diverse range high quality works shortlisted for the Margaret Medcalf Award.
Dr Ingram was recognised for her research: ‘Death at Butterabby: the case of Belo and Mumbleby and Aboriginal women’s place in the nineteenth-century criminal justice system’, published in the journal: History Australia, Volume 21: Number 3, 2024.
This annual award honours the second State Archivist, Ms Margaret Medcalf OAM, and recognises excellence in research and referencing using the State Archives Collection, which is the largest archival collection in Western Australia. The Margaret Medcalf Award is arranged by the State Records Office of Western Australia each year.
