The Western Australian Government has launched the Women in Trades Scholarship Program for 2026.

The $2 million program offers a $5,000 scholarship payment for women enrolled in eligible apprenticeships, traineeships or qualifications at WA TAFE colleges. The program will support up to 400 women over four years.

In 2026, a total of 100 scholarships are available across WA’s five TAFE colleges, including in regional areas. Scholarships are open to women enrolling in eligible qualifications on a full‑time or part‑time basis.

Women are underrepresented in some industries – particularly those that have long been considered male-dominated, where women make up less than 25 per cent of the workforce.

The scholarship aims to reduce barriers to training for women and increase participation across industries such as building and construction, defence, manufacturing, automotive and electrical, engineering, and mining.

The scholarship can be used to cover a wide range of training‑related expenses, including student fees, learning resources, tools, work clothes and personal protective equipment, work tickets and licences, transport, accommodation, and childcare.

In addition to financial support, recipients will have access to tailored mentoring and support services to help them progress through their qualification and transition into employment.

Applications for the Women in Trades Scholarship Program are now open. More information is available at tafe.wa.edu.au.
