Since this web page was published, the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) Rules have been renamed the Electricity System and Market (ESM) Rules, and the Electricity Industry (Wholesale Electricity Market) Regulations 2004 (WEM Regulations) have been renamed the Electricity Industry (Electricity System and Market) Regulations 2004 (ESM Regulations). Changes have not been made to this web page to reflect this updated name.

The exposure draft of Tranche 4B of Amending Rules to implement new Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) arrangements includes draft amendments relating to:

  • Under Frequency Load Shedding requirements
  • Rule change management for WEM Technical Standards
  • Transitional rules for Automatic Generation Control dispatch
  • Generator Performance Standards
  • Various matters related to the Reserve Capacity Mechanism (RCM)
  • Aligning the new availability declarations process with the RCM
  • Aligning the electric storage constraints opt-in process for storage facilities with the RCM
  • The treatment of voluntary reduction of capacity credits by demand side programs
