The Electricity Industry Exemption Order 2005 (the Exemption Order) includes electricity retail and distribution licence exemptions for operating or constructing an electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Western Australia (clause 19).
Energy Policy WA proposes to grant an additional three-year extension to the licence exemptions from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2027. During this extension, Energy Policy WA intends to conduct further work to determine the most suitable form of regulation for public EV charging stations, and what conditions and/or obligations should be applied to operators of EV charging stations in the future.
