LGIRS Strategic Plan - Towards 2029

The Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety (LGIRS) strategic plan - Towards 2029 – builds on our vision of a safe, fair and prosperous future for Western Australian.
Last updated:

The Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety (LGIRS), formerly the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS), was renamed on 1 July 2025. It includes the functions of WorkSafe, Industry Regulation, Consumer Protection, Building and Energy Safety from the former DEMIRS, and Racing Gaming and Liquor, and Local Government from the former Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC).

A new strategic plan will be developed soon. In the meantime, LGIRS will continue to operate under the strategic plans developed for DEMIRS and DLGSC.
