Assistance for bushfire victims
State Government support for bushfire victims with replacement of transport licences, plates and registration papers at no cost
The State Government will replace driver's licence cards, district, State and optional plates, skipper's tickets and boat registration papers damaged or destroyed in the South-West fires, at no cost.
Transport Minister Dean Nalder said the Department of Transport would also waive the fee for certified copies of vehicle licence (registration papers) for vehicles destroyed in the fires.
"The impact the bushfire has had on communities in our South-West is devastating and we hope this gesture, albeit small, can provide some assistance to those who have lost possessions in the fire," Mr Nalder said.
Affected residents can apply for a replacement driver's licence card by filling out an application for replacement/certified copy of driver's licence form and a statutory declaration stating the card was damaged or destroyed by the fire. If possible, damaged cards should also be returned.
To receive a replacement of skipper's tickets or boat registration papers, residents need to complete a statutory declaration stating their skipper's ticket or boat registration papers were damaged or destroyed by the fire and complete the application for replacement card form and/or replacement certificate for boat registration.
For a certified copy of a vehicle licence or to replace a district, State or optional plate, a fire damaged vehicle and number plates form must be completed. Residents who wish to have their plate remade need to complete a remake application form.
For more information, residents can visit their local Driver and Vehicle Services Centre, Department of Transport office or agent, or call 13 11 56.
