Water information for race officials, competitors and public
Up-to-date water levels for Western Australia's most popular white-water event will once again be made available online, providing valuable information in the lead up to next month's Avon Descent.
Water Minister Bill Marmion said the Department of Water used its flood and river level monitoring network to bring the latest Avon River levels live at http://www.water.wa.gov.au
"The website provides valuable information about the condition of the State's freshwater resources, including levels for the Avon River," Mr Marmion said.
"The department has an extensive river monitoring network throughout the State that provides information to the Fire and Emergency Services Authority, Bureau of Meteorology, local governments and others.
"This is one weekend where this network can be used for both the critical measurement of water resources as well as for the general public's interest."
The website will provide live conditions and any change to conditions in the days leading up to the event, as well as on the event day itself.
"With the information being so accessible through the internet, it will assist the organisers, the community and hundreds of competitors in their preparation for this exciting event," the Minister said.
