Best and Brightest public school leavers revealed

• 186 Year 12 students recognised for topping their schools in 2013

Nearly 200 of Western Australia's brightest students have been recognised for reaching the highest academic and vocational standards at their public secondary schools.

Education Minister Peter Collier congratulated the 186 duxes on their achievements in their final year of high school and wished them well for the future.

"History shows that many of the students who top their schools go on to have very bright futures," Mr Collier said.

"These students have achieved exceptional results during the year and I applaud them for their efforts."

The academic dux of each school is the student who received the highest WACE course results at the completion of their school assessment program.

The vocational dux is the student who topped their school in achieving training qualifications and workplace learning.

The Minister said each dux who met eligibility criteria would receive a $1,000 Best and Brightest prize.

Year 12 students who sat the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) examinations can access their results on December 30 on the School Curriculum and Standards Authority website at https://www.wace.wa.edu.au/
