Boost to online licensing services

The State Government has made licensing services even more accessible by placing some of the more common transactions online.

The State Government has made licensing services even more accessible by placing some of the more common transactions online.

Transport Minister Dean Nalder said the Department of Transport (DoT) had increased its online services to include vehicle transfers and a new search tool to help find licensing information even faster.

"In 2013-14, just over 50 per cent of DoT's transactions were processed online," Mr Nalder said.

"The expansion of services and easier way of accessing information will see this number grow as DoT continues to innovate in line with their customer needs."

The Minister said the new licensing search tool, called iQ, would encourage this growth by providing one point of access to customers looking for licensing information.

"The iQ search tool, located on the DoT website's licensing page, follows natural language which means people can type a licensing question into the search box and iQ will bring them the best results from all of DoT's available information sources," he said.

"This will be of great assistance to learner drivers ahead of the April school holiday as it is traditionally a busy period for licensing services."

DoTDirect is the department's one stop shop for online tools, transactions and interactive services available on mobile devices wherever people may be. 

Online tools include secure payments of vehicle and driver's licence renewals, booking a driving test, checking driver's licence status or demerit points, updating contact details, setting reminder alerts for vehicle and driver's licence expiry dates.

West Australians who have registered for a DoTDirect account can now also transfer vehicle ownership online and manage their licensing transactions from a single login.  For more information, visit http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/licensing/sell-a-vehicle-transfer-licence.asp
