Bunbury/Mandurah big winners from grants round

Bunbury and Mandurah have been the big winners from the latest round of Racecourse Infrastructure Grants Program (RIGP) funding announced today.

Bunbury and Mandurah have been the big winners from the latest round of Racecourse Infrastructure Grants Program (RIGP) funding announced today.

Racing and Gaming Minister Terry Waldron said eight clubs would benefit from the round of RIGP funding with a total of $1.49million spread across 15 projects.

"The funding being announced today is made up of $785,388 from the RIGP and a further $703,500 from Royalties for Regions," Mr Waldron said.

"These funds will enable crucial infrastructure and safety upgrades to occur at racecourses, ensuring the State's racing facilities continue to meet OH&S requirements as well as offer the best experience for the industry and racegoers."

Mandurah Greyhounds received the single biggest grant of $900,000 being provided to install new air conditioning and repair the roof structure of the club's main building.

Bunbury Turf Club will benefit from upgrades to the Rogan Josh area, the Big Top Marquee area and the provision of a new race day stewards' room. The club will also install a service lift and create new horse float car park infrastructure from grants totalling $214,000.

The Broome Turf Club will receive a reconstruction and upgrade of the track with a grant of $118,670 and Kalgoorlie-Boulder will also be able to undertake track remediation from a $64,500 grant.

Mount Barker Turf Club, Leonora Race Club, Ascot Racecourse and the Dongara Irwin Race Club will also benefit from this round of infrastructure grants.
