City of Cockburn rated most sustainable city
- City of Cockburn wins 2012 Sustainable City award
- Environmental sustainability of local governments rewarded
Environment Minister Bill Marmion has congratulated the City of Cockburn after it was named Keep Australia Beautiful Western Australia's most Sustainable City for 2012.
The Sustainable Cities awards program recognises metropolitan local governments that are active in their communities and making valuable contributions towards environmental sustainability.
Mr Marmion said the City of Cockburn had demonstrated strong leadership in environmental innovation and community engagement.
"The City of Cockburn connects its residents and community with the local environment and was particularly impressive in the areas of innovation, youth, heritage and culture and community partnerships," he said.
"I congratulate all the nominees, which have shown dedication and commitment to building better and more sustainable communities across Western Australia."
