A major contract to complete Western Australia's new Supreme Courts (Civil) centre in the $700 million Cathedral and Treasury Precinct has been awarded.

Finance Minister Bill Marmion and Attorney General Michael Mischin today announced that during the next month, Broad Construction Services Pty Ltd (WA) would begin preparing for the $27 million fit-out of levels 2 to 16 of the precinct's landmark 33-storey tower.

Mr Mischin said the company had been engaged to fit out eight courts, 10 hearing rooms, five special trial rooms and numerous interview rooms for civil matters.

"The Chief Justice of WA, senior judicial officers and their associated staff will be accommodated over four levels in appropriate chambers and open office space," he said.

"The Law Library will be located on level 2, and two branches of the Department of the Attorney General will occupy levels 5 and 16."

Mr Marmion said Broad was one of five construction firms invited to tender for the works after an open expressions of interest process.

"The company demonstrated it had the experience and ability to deliver the high level of finish while embracing the latest court technology befitting Western Australia's highest civil court," he said.

The fit-out is expected to be completed by mid-2016, with judicial and Attorney General staff moving in as soon as possible.

The Supreme Courts (Civil) centre is the State Government's second major fit-out contract within the Cathedral and Treasury Precinct, following the new State Administrative Tribunal fit-out at 565 Hay Street which is due for completion and occupation next month.
