First lots in stage one of Cockburn Coast redevelopment now available
New coastal community will also include retail, entertainment precincts
The State Government today launched the first precinct of one of the most significant redevelopment projects along the Western Australian coast, which will see the creation of a new community at Cockburn.
Lands Minister Terry Redman today announced the release of the first lots within the Cockburn Coast redevelopment area - part of a $4.9 billion project expected to be home to 12,000 people over the next 20 years.
Mr Redman said the redevelopment was 106 hectares in size and sat on a 1.5km stretch of coastline between the South Beach development to its north and the Port Coogee development to its south.
"The Cockburn coast redevelopment is something that has never been attempted before in WA on this scale," he said.
"The historically significant South Fremantle Power Station building will become the entertainment and commercial centrepiece of the project in years to come and be developed to pay homage to the industrial history of the area."
The redevelopment will include apartments with ocean views, townhouses set alongside public open spaces, commercial and retail opportunities and entertainment and hospitality centres.
The first lots in stage one of the redevelopment - named Shoreline - being released today include four apartment and ten townhouse lots.
The Minister said LandCorp's Cockburn Coast redevelopment was a forward thinking project that embraced a new way of living to deliver housing diversity to an increasing Perth population.
It is expected the redevelopment will generate more than 9,000 construction jobs and 3,000 local jobs over the lifetime of the project.

LandCorp, through a Memorandum of Understanding with Synergy, has worked closely with the City of Cockburn, City of Fremantle, Heritage Council of WA, Department of Transport, Synergy and Western Power to develop the master plan for the historically significant South Fremantle Power Station
