Community Chest funding for Mid-West region

Regional Development Minister Terry Redman has today announced the successful grant recipients of the 2017 Mid-West Community Chest Fund.

Regional Development Minister Terry Redman has today announced the successful grant recipients of the 2017 Mid-West Community Chest Fund.

The Community Chest Fund provides grants of up to $50,000 to support organisations delivering a range of community projects.

Mr Redman said hundreds of diverse projects and organisations across regional Western Australia had significantly benefited from the fund in recent years.

"Included in this round of funding is $29,000 to the Mount Magnet St John Ambulance sub centre to fund the purchase and fit-out of a custom ambulance support trailer and $15,235 to the Mingenew Museum to fund minor refurbishments," he said.

"Meekatharra Speedway will receive $50,000 to purchase 10 new go karts for their junior development program and $26,765 will go to the Shire of Wiluna to develop a 48-hour rest spot.

"A wide range of projects were supported in this round of Community Chest Fund grants from tourism to sport through to aged care benefiting communities in all corners of the Mid-West.

"Royalties for Regions is about strengthening and growing our regions and these investments will help regional communities realise their economic potential for the benefit of all West Australians."

Royalties for Regions will invest $10 million over four years into the Community Chest Fund. WA's nine regional development commissions oversee the program.
