Community Chest funding for the Kimberley
- Kimberley region's Community Chest Fund grant recipients announced
- Community projects funded by $10 million investment over four years
- Made possible by the Liberal National Government's Royalties for Regions program
Regional Development Minister Terry Redman today announced the successful recipients of the Kimberley region's Community Chest Fund, made possible by the Liberal National Government's Royalties for Regions program.
Mr Redman said the fund provided one-off grants to community groups, local governments and not-for-profit organisations to improve and develop infrastructure and services in the region.
"The Community Chest Fund provides voluntary organisations, educational institutions and community organisations with grants of up to $50,000 to support local projects," he said.
"Included in this round is $22,000 for the Barramundi Dreaming Festival, $10,000 to support the Kimberley Writers Festival and Children's Book Week and $36,500 towards the Wyndham Museum roof upgrade."
The Minister said the fund supported region-specific priorities driven by local communities to develop infrastructure, services and community projects that helped build vibrant regions with strong economies.
"These projects will help to attract investment, increase job opportunities and improve the quality of life for communities in the Kimberley region," he said.
"Hundreds of diverse projects and organisations across regional Western Australia have significantly benefited from the Community Chest Fund in recent years."
WA's nine regional development commissions oversee the projects, each being allocated an equal share from which to provide the Community Chest Fund grants.
The Liberal National Government, through the Royalties for Regions program, has invested $10 million into the fund over the next four years.
