Coral Bay students to get choice in schooling options

A transportable building will be provided for community use at Coral Bay.

A transportable building will be provided for community use at Coral Bay.

Announcing the decision today, Education Minister Liz Constable said a suitable site was currently being sought for the building.  It is planned that the facility would be available for use ahead of the first day of term one next year.

"This facility is a cyclone-proof building and will provide a place where parents can supervise their children as they participate in lessons with the School of the Air," Dr Constable said.

"There are currently 12 primary school-aged students living in Coral Bay - some attend Exmouth District High School and others access lessons through Carnarvon School of the Air.

"As a result of parents concerns about the time, distance and age of students travelling to Exmouth, I have requested the Department of Education to provide a transportable building in order to make the facility available to community groups for a range of uses."
