Lands Minster Brendon Grylls today announced the City of Joondalup and the Western Australian Planning Commission had approved the structure plan for the former Craigie High School site.

  • Structure Plan outlines 10.2ha urban renewal project
  • Construction planned to start late this year
  • Aligns with State Government's 'Directions 2031 and Beyond' policy

Lands Minster Brendon Grylls today announced the City of Joondalup and the Western Australian Planning Commission had approved the structure plan for the former Craigie High School site.

"An urban renewal project is set to transform the 10.2ha site into an exciting new residential community," Mr Grylls said.

"The development will facilitate up to 132 residential lots ranging in size from 250sqm to 550sqm, as well as public open space and an associated road network.

"An appropriate level of traffic management for the area will be in place and, to address the Graceful Sun Moth conservation, the structure plan was modified to remove works proposed within the identified moth conservation habitat.

"LandCorp is partnering with Stockland in detailed design and subdivision planning to progress civil works, due to start late this year."

Planning Minister John Day said the Structure Plan aligned with the State Government's long term planning to identify sufficient land for development, promoting further urban consolidation, and maintaining housing affordability, as the city's population approaches a forecast level of 3.5million people by 2031.

"Housing with a range of densities will be provided to align with the State Government's 'Directions 2031 and Beyond' policy which focuses on increasing residential density through sustainable and creative development," Mr Day said.
