Education to bloom at new Roseworth Primary School
Premier Colin Barnett today officially opened the new $11.9million state-of-the-art Roseworth Primary School.
The new school, which was built to replace two amalgamated primary schools - Montrose and Hainsworth - includes a covered assembly area and canteen, library resource centre and 10 general classrooms.
Mr Barnett said the school was one of the State's inaugural Independent Public Schools and had been designed to maximise community involvement.
"It is particularly pleasing to see that a dental clinic and child health centre have been co-located on site, giving parents the opportunity to attend to their children's medical needs while dropping them off at school," he said.
"There is also an important research facility located on the school grounds, which provides university students with the opportunity to have contact with a functioning school and facilitate relevant research.
"The Edith Cowan University (ECU) Fogarty Professional Learning Centre includes a full-size classroom with a glass-walled observation and tutorial room that allows teaching students from ECU to observe students and staff in their classroom environment."
Education Minister Liz Constable said the school had been architecturally designed to provide learning spaces that staff enjoyed working in and students found stimulating.
"The school is air-cooled and there are electronic whiteboards throughout," Dr Constable said.
"There is also a three-room early childhood block, education support centre and administration and staff facilities.
"It is a fantastic new start for the Montrose and Hainsworth primary school communities, which have been involved in the planning of this new school every step of the way."
