Young people will find planning events in their community much easier thanks to a new website launched today by Youth Minister Donna Faragher.

Mrs Faragher launched the Make It Happen website, created by the Department for Communities' Office for Youth, at The Vault, the City of Melville's youth space.

"There is no better way to ensure a successful youth event than to give young people the tools to plan and stage events themselves," Mrs Faragher said.

"The Make It Happen website is a valuable resource for young people and those working with young people.

"Many young people are eager to try their hand at event planning, which is fantastic as it builds a sense of community, helps them develop important life and leadership skills, and knowledge in this area."

The Make It Happen website lists relevant websites, information, books and organisations to help with event planning in Western Australia, as well as information on the technical issues such as public liability insurance, grants submission preparation and working with government.

It was created to assist Youth Advisory Councils across WA to help young people stage events in their local communities. The website would also provide young people with the tools to hold events during National Youth Week in April.

"The Office for Youth has created a resource to help young people deliver terrific events, and I encourage young people across the State to take advantage of this fantastic website and make it happen in their communities," Mrs Faragher said.

Make it Happen is linked to the Office for Youth's website and can be viewed at: http://www.youth.wa.gov.au/makeithappen
