The first lots at the Newman Gateway Commercial Centre development are now available, Lands Minister Terry Redman announced today.

Mr Redman said the mixed business precinct was part of an integrated, strategic approach to revitalise Newman and a key development in the $1.7 billion Pilbara Cities initiative to create more attractive, sustainable local communities.
"Through the State Government's Royalties for Regions Pilbara Cities initiative and the work of agencies such as LandCorp, Newman is transforming not only in terms of its town centre and the level of community amenity but also in the potential for new retail and commercial opportunities," he said.
"The lots are designed to be suitable for a range of businesses with a variety of 'footprint' requirements from service industries to wholesaling, showrooms, trade and professional services.
"Newman Gateway is an important and positive development for Newman in terms of promoting additional choice for consumers in the town, as well as providing a platform to attract new business or allow existing businesses to expand.
"LandCorp is also offering quality housing choices at its East Newman residential development, light industrial lots at the Newman Light Industrial Area and now the Newman Gateway Commercial Centre is coming on stream.
"All these opportunities underline why Newman is a great place to live, work, invest and visit."
The Minister said confidence in the town's future had also been reflected in the recent decision by BHP Billiton to invest $30 million for the development of a new shopping centre in Newman.
