Hon. Colin Barnett
The State Government will bring additional government-owned properties to the market as part of a co-ordinated sales program designed to reduce debt.
Premier Colin Barnett and Lands Minister Terry Redman today announced a second round of properties to be prepared for sale, following on from the first round of sales earmarked by the State Government in September last year.
New sites being prepared for sale include the Old Cottesloe Cable Station, Claremont Police Station and three disused school sites.
"These properties have been identified as being surplus to government requirements and will now form part of the Government's land sales program," Mr Barnett said.
"The Government's land sales program is not just about raising revenue and reducing debt - it is also a great opportunity to refresh and revitalise our city and State.
"Sales of the combined two rounds of properties are estimated to generate in the order of $268 million for the State. The proceeds will be reinvested back into Western Australia, helping to drive down debt."
Mr Redman said the State Government was working closely with government agencies and the property sector to identify and continue to bring surplus Government properties to market.
"I encourage developers and other prospective buyers to visit the Department of Lands website for information about current and future sales of surplus Government land," Mr Redman said.
