Inspection stations increase access for motorists

• Four Kmart outlets to provide vehicle inspections

• 22 Kmart outlets to join over the next two months 

The State Government is improving service delivery and accessibility for light vehicle owners through a new partnership with Kmart Tyre and Auto Service outlets to provide vehicle examinations on behalf of the Department of Transport.

Transport Minister Dean Nalder said the department was continuing to drive more convenient access to services for its customers in the Perth metropolitan area and in the regions, and the expanded Authorised Inspection Stations (AIS) network was testament to this.

"I am pleased to see a further 26 AIS partners will be working with the department's vehicle examination centres, which will not only provide easy-to-access frontline services, but will provide more choice and convenience to customers," Mr Nalder said.

Since their successful application through a competitive Expression of Interest process, Kmart Tyre and Auto outlets and staff have undergone an extensive process of suitability assessment and training to become part of the expanded network.

Kmart Tyre and Auto Service will carry out limited light vehicle examinations at Midland, Clarkson, Baldivis and Wanneroo from today.

"These four outlets will be the first of 26 Kmart Tyre and Auto Services which will join the expanded network over the next two months," the Minister said.
