It's fun on the farm for Beverley festival
Beverley marks 18th annual festival
Event celebrates farming lifestyle in WA's Wheatbelt
Supported by Eventscorp's Regional Events Scheme
The 18th annual Beverley Harvest Festival next weekend is set to celebrate the town's extraordinary farming life with family entertainment and activities.
Tourism Minister Kim Hames said Beverley, located on the edge of Western Australia's Wheatbelt, was one of the State's oldest towns, with a rich early settler and indigenous history.
"2012 is the Australian Year of the Farmer so there's no better time to showcase the agricultural heritage the town has enjoyed for more than a century," Dr Hames said.
"In less than two hours' drive from Perth, visitors can watch real life farming activities such as harvesting demonstrations; working sheepdogs; sheep shearing; and a vintage car and machinery display.
"Playing host to the festival is the Avondale Discovery Farm, featuring a historic homestead; a 19th Century stable, housing Clydesdale horses; an agricultural machinery museum; and a picnic area with a playground."
The State Government is proud to support the Beverley Harvest Festival through Eventscorp's Regional Events Scheme, which is funded by Royalties for Regions.
Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls said the he was pleased the Beverley Harvest Festival was being supported with funding from Royalties for Regions.
"The State's regions are amazing places - they have such diverse and rich histories and it is terrific that events provide people with another reason to visit our regional towns," Mr Grylls said.
"It's wonderful to see towns like Beverley holding events that showcase and celebrate the things which make them special places to live. Events add vibrancy to communities and bring social and economic benefits, all of which are great outcomes for regional development."
